9/19/2004

A wine and beer tasting event to benefit the Philadelphia chapter of Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.

The tenth annual Sippin' by the River outdoor wine and beer festival will take place on Sunday, September 19, from 1 to 5 p.m., rain or shine, at Festival Pier at Penn's Landing, Columbus Boulevard at Spring Garden Street, in Philadelphia.

World-famous wines and beers, food sampling, cooking demonstrations, gourmet cuisine from area restaurants, and live entertainment will highlight this festival benefiting CCFA. Live music from the band Dame. Visitors can also stop by special pavilions to sample authentic food and beers.

Tickets cost $25 per person if purchased in advance, or $30 on the day of the event. Beginning Monday August 2nd, tickets may be purchased online at www.sippinbytheriver.com . Tickets are limited and may sell out prior to the event. Those under 21 years of age will not be permitted to sample wine or beer. Proof of legal age is required.

For those donors who wish to make a significant contribution, Sippin' by the River provides an exclusive VIP area where attendees can enjoy the afternoon under a large air conditioned tent. VIP admission entitles donors to enjoy a variety of gourmet foods, sample select wines and beers, and partake in tutored tastings by media wine personality John McNulty and beer expert Gary Monterosso.

Tickets for the VIP tent are available for $150 each or $1,000 for a table of 8 and must be purchased in advance. For more information about VIP tables, please email Philadelphia@ccfa.org.

Proceeds from Sippin' by the River, which topped more than $90,000 last year, benefit research, education, and support programs for people suffering from Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis - chronic digestive disorders of the small and large intestines collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Currently, IBD affects an estimated one million Americans.

CCFA, a voluntary, non-profit national organization, seeks to cure and prevent Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis through research, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these digestive diseases through education and support.
