Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk - 5:00-9:00pm10/2/2004The Light The Night® Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's nationwide evening walk to raise awareness of blood cancers and funds for cures. The event will be held from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing. The Philadelphia Light the Night® Walk consists of a 2-3 mile route where participants carry illuminated balloons to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer – white for cancer survivors and red for supporters. The suggested donation for participation is $100.00. Funds raised from the Night® Walk support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission: to cure blood-related cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma; and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. This is the second year that the Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has chosen Penn’s Landing’s Great Plaza as the location for this important event. Participants will follow a route that will take them around Penn’s Landing’s picturesque waterfront. In addition to the walk, there will be food vendors, children’s activities, live musical entertainment on the main stage, and a fireworks display at the conclusion of the event. Participation in the Light The Night® Walk helps save lives and anyone can take part. Children, adults, seniors, and even pets on leashes are all welcome. This is a casual walk with no fitness requirements. Please join National Chairperson Ray Evernham and walkers throughout the country as we "light the night" with hope and fight blood cancers. Walk with us!
